oh, academia

I've wanted to be a university professor since I first stepped onto Simmons College University campus in 2007, where I majored in East Asian studies with minors in communications and gender/sexuality studies. So far, life has taken me down a different path. In 2023, I graduated from Hamline Universitywith a MFA Writing for Children & Young Adults. My creative thesis was a collection of eight picture books. My critical thesis was "Grief Grand Gestures in Middle Grade Fiction." (For more information about my children's literaure career as an author and researcher, visit my author webiste.)

In 2025, I am applying for a Master of Arts in Humanities, Self Designed at Antioch University.

In between, I've been an independent scholar/academic in exile, piecing together what research I could do with limited academic library access.
