Turtle Louise Matsushima
18 November 2010- 10 September 2022
Inspired by S. Qiouyi Lu's Thin Mint Angel Fund sponsoring adoption fees for FIV+/FeLV+ cats, the Turtle Memorial Fund sponsors adoptions for senior cats.
Turtle Louise was ~10 years old when I adopted her from the Animal Rescue League of Boston . Senior pets are less likely to be adopted; only 25% of senior pets in shelters are adopted into their forever homes [source]).
I always wanted a long haired calico cat when I was a little girl. I knew as soon as I saw Turtle at the shelter that she was "my" cat. Turtle (or "Toots," as she was known) was my emotional support cat from when I adopted her in August 2020 until she passed away in September 2022. Turtle only lived with me for a few years and I am honored to have given her a loving home for the end of her life.
As of 16 October 2024, there is $50 (¥6,500) available to sponsor senior cat adoption fees. If you are interested in adopting a senior cat, please contact me: tell me a little bit about yourself and the cat you are hoping to adopt.
If photos of Turtle brought you joy, please consider sponsoring the Turtle Memorial Fund (put "Turtle" or "🐢" in the notes) or donating to Turtles Fly Too, a sea turtle rescue nonprofit, in her name.
